Swissôtel Dresden

Natural stone and glass mosaic installation

The Swissôtel Dresden Am Schloss opened in 2012. The new building was modelled on the residence of the famous baroque master builder Matthäus Pöppelmann, which originally stood there.

In the reception area of the 5-star hotel, the architects relied on natural stone and mosaic to create a prestigious yet inviting ambience. The tiles of white Carrara marble as well as Bardiglio Nuvolato and Nero Marquina marble in the lobby, on the entrance stairs as well as at the reception desk and in the hotel's own bistro were laid by the Dresden-based tiling company "Die Keramischen".

For this purpose, the professional tilers used weber.xerm 866 F of Saint-Gobain Weber. The quick-setting all-bed natural stone mortar is especially suitable for the discolouration-free laying of natural stone slabs. Another specialist tiling company in Dresden, Fliesenunganz, created an 80 m² mural with a glass mosaic on the staircase.

They also used glass mosaic to install showers and heat benches in the wellness area, which is located in the historic vaulted cellar. The work was carried out with the highly flexible tile adhesive weber.xerm 863.
