Energetic refurbishment of residential units

Germany biggest housing company refurbishes with ETICS of Weber Germany

In October 2015, Vonovia SE, Germany's largest housing company, completed a major refurbishment project in the towns of Landsberg and Augsburg. A total of 550 residential units were comprehensively refurbished at a cost of around € 14.6 million Euros.

The facade work was carried out by Vonovia Modernisierungs GmbH. As part of the energy-related renovation, the external thermal insulation composite system weber.therm B 100 of Saint-Gobain Weber was applied on a facade with a total surface of 8,600 m² and covered with the silicone resin floated top coat render weber.pas 481 AquaBalance.

The large surfaces of the buildings were softened by coordinated colour accents, creating a friendly and attractive overall appearance. Vonovia SE deliberately chose a facade render with AquaBalance technology to provide the facade with long-term and sustainable protection against algae and fungi and to prevent biocides from being washed out.

In other respects, too, the housing association paid attention to an eco-friendly application. When it became apparent that bats were nesting under the roof overhang, 15 nesting boxes were installed at a suitable height. They protect the facade from nesting attempts and provide a new home for the bats.
