Weber is celebrating: Over 100 million universal dowels installed!

26 August 2025  – Saint-Gobain Weber has set a new standard for thermal insulation. In early August, the Düsseldorf-based company announced that it had reached the milestone of installing 100,000,000 ETICS dowels, specifically the weber.therm SDR-5 and SDL-5 models.

The 100 millionth SRD-5 dowel was installed in the ETIC system of a daycare centre in Münster by the Heinz Vorwerk GmbH team based in Warendorf. Georg Kolbe, Head of Product Marketing of render and façade systems at Saint-Gobain Weber, personally visited the construction site to present Managing Director Frank Vorwerk with an honorary award — a Golden Dowel — in recognition of this milestone.

The screw dowel weber.therm SRD-5  and the impact dowel weber.therm SLD-5 were developed in 2015.
“Our goal was to provide reliable dowels for the pure-type recyclability of our external thermal insulation composite system weber.therm circle, that could also be used to fasten fire barriers,” says Georg Kolbe.
“This allows us to provide skilled tradespeople with reliable solutions for all types of substrates.“

Universal fastening solution

During renovation work, craftsmen and site managers often encounter unknown substrates and mixed masonry. With SRD-5 and SLD-5, however, they can be sure they are working safely. Both dowel variants feature a dual expansion zone for high application reliability. The pre-assembled screw dowel weber.therm SRD-5 can be installed flush with or recessed into the surface. The impact dowel weber.therm SLD-5 is ideal for streamlining work processes. Both fasteners are officially approved and provide virtually thermal bridge-free insulation fastening with a Chi-value of just 0.001 W/K.
