Family-owned company chooses ETICS with glass panels for its own headquarters

Werner Neumann GmbH is a painting and glazing company founded in 1939 in Kevelaer in the Lower Rhine region. The 4th generation of the Neumann family is already committed to professional design with glass and paint. With success: in 2015, the head office was extended to create space for the growing exhibition and staff. Obviously, the owners wanted to show potential customers on their own company building what design options are available today for contemporary facades.

So, the managing directors Andreas, Markus and Matthias Neumann decided on a new type of external thermal insulation composite system with the bonded glass surface of Saint-Gobain Weber.

The weber.therm style Glass system allows glass elements to be bonded to a continuous insulation layer without thermal gaps, thus combining energy efficiency with design freedom. In 2014, the system received the renowned Red Dot Design Award. Of course, the ETICS was applied by the Neumann team. The facade professionals first applied mineral wool lamella insulation boards in a thickness of 140 mm, followed by the double application of a reinforcement layer consisting of the system-compliant bonding and reinforcing mortar, and reinforcement fabric. The mortar was also combed over the whole backside of the large format glass elements in the company colour turquoise. Then the Neumann workers lifted the panels with a crane and pushed them into position. The result is an elegant facade that clearly demonstrates the competence of the Neumann team.
