Working steps of the weber.therm retec system

The patented system weber.therm retec® offers the possibility to renovate damaged ETIC systems of the first generation in a permanent, economical and clean manner. With the help of the weber.therm retec® system, a synthetic resin-based render or ETICS can be converted into a long-lasting, sustainable, mineral-based system without having to dismantle the old facade.

Simple & safe to the goal

  1. Check of substrate

    1. Examination of the facade by the Technical Department for Applications of Saint-Gobain Weber.

  2. Preliminary works

    2. The whole facade must be thoroughly cleaned with a high steam jet cleaner. Regulate pressure and temperature according to the damage extent.

  3. 3. Afterwards, slots are sawn on the facade with a milling machine in vertical and horizontal directions. The grid dimension of the slot is 15 x 15 cm up to 30 x 30 cm according to the damage extent.

  4. 4. Width of slots: 5 - 7 mm and depth: approx. 5 cm (into the EPS insulating material).

  5. Application

    5. Case 1: with additional insulation.

Apply the special bonding and reinforcing mortar weber.therm retec® in a thickness of 6 - 8 mm.

  6. 6. The freshly applied reinforcing mortar must be combed, for ex. with a notched trowel or similar (notch size at least 10 x 10 mm).

  7. 7. The mineral wool or polystyrene insulation boards are pressed on the fresh mortar layer, by using horizontal movements. Then carry out a reinforcement layer on top of the boards.

  8. 8. Case 2: without additional insulation

Apply the reinforcing mortar in a thickness of 6 - 8 mm. Insert a woven mesh, which must lay in the upper third of the reinforcing mortar layer.

  9. 9. Case 1 and 2: as a rule, the subsequent dowelling is carried through the meshcloth. This operation is done when the mortar is fresh. The choice of dowels must be determined by the Department for Applications of Saint-Gobain Weber.

  10. Scraped (scratch) top renders weber.top

    10. The mineral coarse-graded scratch topcoat render weber.top 204 AquaBalance 204 is applied by hand or machine on the combed reinforcement mortar layer.

  11. 11. Rule level flush and perpendicular with a straight edge (for ex. aluminium beam).

  12. 12. Sweep off the scratched render surface from top to bottom with a nail float (scraper) in circular motions. Sweep dust over the scratched surface from bottom to top.

  13. Mineral floated top renders weber.star

    13. Depending on the type of overlay render and weather conditions, the reinforcement layer must be eventually pre-wetted or pre-treated with the universal primer weber.prim 403.

  14. 14. Spray/apply the mineral floated top render (with Jura grains) weber.star 220 AquaBalance onto the prepared substrate and strike off with a stainless steel smoothing trowel to grain thickness.

  15. 15. Without delay work to the texture, using a plastic (PVC) trowel or a polystyrene (EPS) float, depending on the desired pattern.
