Professional execution of interior insulation systems to improve the indoor climate

With housing becoming increasingly scarce, basements are becoming more and more important. They are often converted into living spaces or for purposes similar to living space. This also changes the requirements for thermal and moisture protection. Post-applied interior waterproofing in combination with the interior mineral wall insulation boards weber.therm MD 042 Dämmboard innen offers optimum moisture and heat protection, saves valuable heating energy and increases living and utility comfort. The exclusive use of mineral products also regulates the indoor climate naturally. The mineral insulation boards can, of course, also be used in adjacent and other living/utility areas.

Simple & safe to the goal

  1. 1. Cleaning of the substrate is essential to ensure a sound substrate for the next working steps. Remove brittle, non-load-bearing plasters and clean out joints accordingly. Pre-wet dry substrates until dull-moist.

  2. 2. Chisel a recess in the internal angle (concrete slab/basement wall). After pre-wetting, apply a bonding layer with the watertight mortar weber.tec 933 along the angle. Then fill the recess with weber.tec 933 "wet-in-wet" and apply the mortar in groove form.

  3. 3. As egalization and preliminary waterproofing layer apply the waterproof render weber.tec 934 on the hardened spray stipple coat weber.san 951 S; after initial setting smooth the render with a damp brush or a sponge float.

  4. 4. Then the 2-comp. reactive waterproofing slurry weber.tec Superflex D 2 is applied in 2 layers.

  5. 5. The post-applied horizontal damp-proof barrier weber.tec 940 E (silicone micro-emulsion) or weber.tec 946 (silane-based injection cream) is placed above ground level, i.e. below the basement ceiling.

  6. 6. The mineral insulation board for indoors weber.therm MD 042 Dämmboard innen can be cut to size easily and precisely with a jigsaw.

  7. 7. After application of the lightweight mineral bonding and reinforcing mortar weber.therm 307 as contact layer on the dried interior waterproofing, spray/apply the mortar full-surface on the substrate and comb with a notched trowel (notch size 10 x 10 mm).

  8. 8. The bonding and reinforcing mortar is applied full-surface on the mineral insulation board and combed.

  9. 9. Position the boards and slightly press them.

  10. 10. A ridge height of approx. 10 mm allows to level out most uneven points of the substrate.

  11. 11. After setting level out offsets of the boards, using a grid float.

  12. 12. The reinforcing layer is applied in 5 - 8 mm thickness full-surface onto the insulation boards with a flat trowel.

  13. 13. Lay the woven glass fiber mesh for damp-proof renders weber.sys 987 "wet-in-wet" in vertical or horizontal wrinkle-free strips and cover it with a second layer.

  14. 14. Processing of the window reveal with the mineral soffit panels weber.therm MD 050 Leibung (60 x 25 cm).

  15. 15. Rule level the reinforcing layer.

  16. 16. For surface egalizing strike off the textured lime plaster weber.cal 286 in 2 - 3 mm thickness with a stainless steel smoothing trowel. After drying, smooth with a fine or a coarse sponge float, depending on the required texture.
