What is EMICODE?

The EMICODE seal is appearing on an increasing number of construction products, particularly those intended for indoor use. But what exactly do the different categories mean?

The EMICODE seal is a legally protected labelling system awarded by the Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation, Adhesives and Building Materials (GEV). The key criterion for EMICODE certification is to have the lowest possible emissions. There are three categories: EC2, EC1 and EC1PLUS. While EC2 products only meet the basic requirements, EC1 products have very low emissions. The EC1 seal has proven itself as a standard over many years. The EMICODE EC1PLUS seal sets particularly strict limits, representing the boundaries of what is technically feasible.

Nearly all of our flooring installation products at Weber are certified as low- or very low-emission (EC1/EC1PLUS). You can find an overview of the most environmentally and health-friendly Weber systems here.
