Waterproofing of facade socket part with door connection in case of 2-shell construction

Basically, a durably dry building structure also includes a long-term waterproofed facade socket part. This area is highly stressed by temperature fluctuations, splash water, salts and freeze/thaw cycles. In order to create a homogeneous, seamless and accurate waterproofing from the basement to the socket part, it is crucial to know how the facade will be constructed and where the upper ground level will be later. If it is exposed masonry, i.e a 2-shell construction, we recommend the waterproofing systems with cement-based flexible waterproofing slurries or with reactive waterproofing coatings, such as weber.tec Superflex D 2 or D 24 (in accordance with DIN 18533).

Simple & safe to the goal

  1. 1. Scratch test: a manual test to determine whether cement laitance is present on the concrete surface. Existing cement laitance layers must be removed mechanically, as they often detach from the substrate and do not provide a sufficient underlay for waterproofing.

  2. 2. For consolidation and dust binding of absorbent substrates, apply the all-purpose primer weber.prim 900, mixed with water in a ratio of 1 : 1 part by volume. This creates an optimal bonding surface for the following waterproofing coating.

  3. 3. weber.tec Superflex D 2 (2-comp. reactive waterproofing slurry) or weber.tec Superflex D 24 (2-comp. reactive and quick-setting waterproofing coating) is used under the walls. Two coats are applied, using a block brush.

  4. 4. In the case of multi-shell wall constructions, first a mineral mortar groove of the watertight mortar weber.tec 933 is installed at the bottom of the backup masonry. First, apply the mortar as a bonding layer (brush consistency) on the dull-moist substrate. Then apply the mortar as groove mortar (trowel consistency) "wet-in-wet" with the preformed rounded trowel weber.sys Hohlkehlenschlitten.

  5. 5. View of the building shell with the groove covered with the mortar weber.tec 933.

  6. 6. Apply weber.tec Superflex D 2 or weber.tec Superflex D 24 over the whole groove area, including the forepart of the concrete foundation slab resp.ceiling slab.

  7. 7. View of the bottom part of basement walls (including the forepart of the concrete slab) and view of the backup masonry after completion of waterproofing works.

  8. 8. In the area of floor-flush windows or doors, the facing shell of the facade must be left out in the lower area.

  9. 9. Afterwards, the threshold profile must be completely waterproofed with weber.tec Superflex D 2 / D 24. The waterproofing must be connected to the backup masonry. In the corner areas, the watertight foil weber.sys 982 or weber.sys 982 SK.

  10. 10. The facing shell of the facade is then completed afterwards.
