Execution of a bonded waterproofing in residential wet-duty areas, indoors

Moisture-stressed areas in domestic interiors should be protected against moisture penetration and the associated consequential damage by suitable measures. Shower areas in particular are exposed to moisture loads here. The waterproofing system with the liquid waterproofing foil weber.tec 822 and the elastic and perforated sealing tape weber.tec 828 DB G offers a safe solution for optimum protection of wall and floor surfaces exposed to moisture.

Simple & safe to the goal

  1. Vorbereitung

    1. First, use the primer weber.prim 803 on the old load-bearing tiles.

  2.

    2. For absorbent substrates use the primer weber.prim 801.

  3. Application

    1. Upon full drying of the primer, the sealing tape weber.tec 828 DB G is installed in all connection parts, like angles wall/wall or wall/floor. It is embedded in the waterproofing weber.tec 822 of the wet-duty rooms. The excess material is squeezed out with a flat trowel.

  4. 2. The waterproofing of corners is done with the prefabricated inner or outer corners (weber.tec 828 DI G or DA G).

  5. 3. The waterproofing of sanitary pipes is done with perforated pipe sleeves in different sizes (weber.tec 828 MD G, MDM G or MDK G).

  6. 4. Afterwards the first layer of the liquid waterproofing foil weber.tec 822 is applied by using a trowel, a paintbrush or a lambskin roller.

  7. 5. Upon drying of the first layer, the second one is applied. The total dry layer thickness must be at least 0.5 mm.

  8. Tile fixing

    1. After the second waterproofing layer has dried, apply a contact layer, such as the multi-use flexible tile adhesive weber.xerm 861. Without delay comb down a uniform adhesive bed with a notched trowel at an angle of 45° - 60°.

  9. 2. Before a skin starts to form (check the tackiness of combed down tile adhesive with the finger) slide the tiles into the fresh mortar bed and press down.

  10. 3. Upon drying of the bonded waterproofing, the flexible tile adhesive weber.xerm 861 can be also applied on floors. Here too, slide the tiles into the fresh mortar bed and press down. Scrape the joints before the tile adhesive hardens.

  11. Grouting

    1. Upon drying of the tile adhesive, the joints between tiles (wall and floor) can be grouted with the water- and dirt-repellent Longlife premium grout weber.fug 875 BlueComfort. This grout is characterized by a high resistance to sanitary cleaners.

  12. 2. Connection and movement joints must be closed with the elastic silicone joint sealant weber.fug 880 or weber.fug 881. In case of natural stones, use the specific sealant weber.fug 883. For better bonding, use the primer weber.fug 884 (absorbent joint sides) or weber.fug 885 (non-absorbent joint sides).
