Waterproofing of screeds with slope on balconies and terraces

Whether for the waterproofing of balconies or terraces, for the waterproofing of foundations, in the socket part of facades or as a bonded waterproofing under ceramic coverings in permanently wet areas or in underwater areas, the highly flexible 2-component waterproofing slurry of Saint-Gobain Weber perfectly protects your building project against wetness and moisture penetration. weber.xerm 844 is a product approved by the building authorities and has the necessary test certificates for the execution of bonded waterproofing.

Simple & safe to the goal

  1. Substrate preparation

    1. In case of eventual hollow parts or necessary height compensation, apply the quick-setting levelling and repair mortar weber.plan 818 or the quick-setting levelling mortar weber.plan 819.

  2. 2. Apply the primer weber.prim 801 on absorbent substrates. Apply a thin coat of the primer weber.prim 803 on non-absorbent substrates.

  3. 3. For a perfect tile finish, suitable stop-end profiles for tiles can be installed at the foreparts of the screed if necessary (glued and dowelled. They are later embedded in the composite (bonded) waterproofing.

  4. Application

In corners, expansion joints, butt joints and movement joints, first insert all the necessary components of the sealing system weber.tec 828 (such as sealing tape as well as inner and outer corners) into the freshly applied layer of the highly flexible 2-comp. waterproofing and tile adhesive weber.xerm 844.

  5. 2. If a stop-end profile has been installed before, it must be covered with the sealing tape weber.tec 828 DB G or 150, too.

  6. 3. The first layer of the flexible slurry weber.xerm 844 is applied with a solid brush or a block brush. This guarantees that the smallest pores and honeycombs are filled.

  7. 4. The second layer of the flexible slurry weber.xerm 844 can be applied with a flat trowel in a rich and uniform layer. The minimal dry layer thickness of both waterproofing layers must be ≥ 2.0 mm.

  8. 5. After drying of the waterproofing, the tile adhesive for ex. weber.xerm 844 is applied. Before a skin starts to form (check the tackiness of combed down tile adhesive with the finger) slide the tiles into the fresh mortar bed and press down. Scrape the joints before the tile adhesive hardens.

  9. 6. After hardening of the tile adhesive, the joints between tiles can be grouted with e.g. the flexible grout weber.fug 877.

  10. 7. Connection and movement joints must be closed with the elastic silicone joint sealant weber.fug 880 or weber.fug 881. In case of natural stones, use the specific sealant weber.fug 883. For better bonding, use the primer weber.fug 884 (absorbent joint sides) or weber.fug 885 (non-absorbent joint sides).
